This unassuming restaurant at 423 Forest Rd invites you to explore a menu bursting with classic dishes that satisfy both the palate and the soul. Whether you’re craving crispy prawn toast, flavorful chicken san choy bow, or a comforting plate of chow mein, this spot serves up generous portions at very reasonable prices.

Step inside, and you’ll notice the simple, no-frills atmosphere that puts the focus where it should be: on the food. Though the decor is modest, the warm smiles from the owners and the efficient, friendly service provide a welcoming experience. Regulars appreciate how the takeaway orders are ready quickly—typically within 10 to 15 minutes—making it a reliable choice for a fuss-free yet fulfilling meal.

The menu at Bexley Golden Palace Chinese caters perfectly to a range of tastes. Start your culinary journey with the mix entree featuring crispy spring rolls, succulent dim sims, and golden prawn toast that offers a satisfying crunch with every bite. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the salt and spicy chicken wings pack just the right punch without overwhelming the dish’s tender juiciness. If you prefer something lighter, the vegetarian spring rolls are just as crisp and flavorful.

Main dishes are equally impressive. The chicken chow mein—praised by one devoted diner as “out of this world good”—delivers perfectly cooked noodles enveloped in savory, rich flavors that keep you coming back for more. The black bean beef and prawn chow mein are further testimony to the kitchen’s skillful balance of textures and aromatic spices. And food lovers with halal preferences will find satisfying options here, highlighted by specialties like crispy skin duck and hearty soups.

What truly stands out at Bexley Golden Palace isn’t just the menu variety but the earnest dedication to maintaining authentic taste profiles. While the ambiance is modest, the culinary experience is anything but. From the addictive crunch of their prawn chips to the melt-in-your-mouth wontons that disappear before you can grab one, each dish tells a story of tradition crafted with care.

Whether you're a local seeking a reliable spot for traditional Chinese fare or a visitor wanting an honest, hearty meal, Bexley Golden Palace Chinese is a treasure that delivers comforting flavors with hospitality to match. Don’t be deceived by its quiet street presence; this gem quietly holds its own through dishes full of character and charm.

Food tastes great although the service is not as good as their dishes, price is very reasonable

Really good Chinese Food, with Halal options ! The favourites are Duck crispy skin duck, Prawn toast, Chow mein, beef & Chicken corn soup .

My Family have been enjoying Chinese food from this favourite local for many years. Inside always looks quiet but if you are looking for reasonably priced, good local Chinese food, then this does the job. There is absolutely nothing glamourous about the interior decor but the owners always give friendly service and our takeaway is ready in 10-15 minutes. We have eaten in on occasion but usually do take away which we pick up ourselves. Our general staple takeaway is usually the fried rice, san choy bow and chicken and vegetables. We have always enjoyed the meal!

Since my favourite Chinese restaurant closed, I've been hunting for another place that has just the right flavours I like. And I've finally found it, even though it doesn't look like much from the street - it looks a little slow and quiet, but admittedly it's 8pm on a Wednesday night. Here's what it has going for it: *The prawn chips had the right flavour. These things are either divine, or soul-crushingly disappointing; *Everything was delicious; fried rice, Singapore noodles, chicken with black beans, crispy skin chicken (drunken/ Shantung chicken - which could have had more sauce but this is a minor point), and the steak with Peking sauce (which I thought would be rainbow shredded steak - my fault, but flavour was delicious nonetheless); *The takeaway containers were given to me in a cardboard box. It's challenging getting this stuff home without a mess when it's all in a single plastic bag, so it was glorious to have a study box that was once used for tetrapacs of skim UHT milk. Call it suburban charm. *THEY TAKE CARDS. In the second decade of the 21st Century, its stunning that so many places do cash only. And in the middle of a suburban street, I wouldn't want to go hunting for a lonely ATM, or remember to have to bring cash. *Friendly service. Oh, this goes such a long way. *Prices for mains range between $13-19. So no amazing bargains, but it's reasonable. *My partner loves Schweppes lemonade, which only came in a 1.2 litre bottle - the cans were all Sprite. But it's not a big deal for takeaway. Plus I prefer Sunkist over Fanta, so I was fine to grab my own bottle rather than a can. I know soft drinks aren't good, but why split hairs when you're eating takeaway? Finding a good, suburban Chinese restaurant seems to be increasingly challenging in the inner south as the number of Thai places increases. Hopefully this review helps if that's what you're looking for.

Ordered the wontons, a chicken chowmein with the hokkein noodles amd a beef black bean.all amazing but the chow mein was out of this world good, possibly the best I have ever had and this is my go to dish.the wontons must have been good too my kids gobbled them up before I could try even one
